He collected over 400 sources including interview and quotes from George Lucas, Gary Kurtz, and Mark Hamill to document the creation of of the Star Wars universe in a free e-book, The Secret History of Star Wars. I recently finished reading The Secret History of Star Wars (highly recommended) which talks about this a bit. Star Wars is one of the most important cultural phenomena of the Western World. Have found, via a thread on Circvs Maximvs , a free PDF book entitled "The Secret History of Star Wars". Finally, I think the authors should have challenged common moralistic or overly simplistic interpretations of history. Take a look at The Secret History of Star Wars and you will see that there was no grand plan about Yoda's backstory. It reminds me of another favorite of mine, “The Secret History of Star Wars” by Michael Kaminski, a reconstitution of the behind-the-scenes story based on interviews and facts.
